During the pandemic I've sold off and replaced every instrument I owned. Retooling everything to suit what I want to do? An ADHD brain with too much time? A little of both?

What I do musically has changed. No more 4 piece bluegrass band. Less time spent with the trio and more as a duo and solo. I was looking for a more complex, versatile sound. But it still needs to handle Bluegrass when asked. I think I've found it in the Girouard. It's beautiful, easy to play, and miles ahead of me. I think it's my lifer.

I'll put it down here to either confirm or laugh at in a few years....but I think I've found my lifetime instruments in an A5 (Girouard), Mandola (Trillium), and bouzouki (Dunwell). But who knows what might happen if I'm locked up another year

I suppose I do need an F hole mandola too....

Frankdolin, the tune is "Over The Waterfall". It is a tune that I grew tired of years ago BUT Chuck puts so much fresh air into it I may have to revisit it (steal Chuck's chords).
Beautiful mandolin and beautiful playing. Hats off from another Girouard owner and yes mine is a life time mando also.

OMG that thing sounds fantastic!!!! I *thought* I was happy with my MT, but hmmmmm...

What makes it a Grand Concert - is it a different size than a std A5, or is that just a model name?

Chuck, I would also like to add that if you have any questions about your mandolin, Max and Lauri are the most responsive and supportive people you can hope to deal with. A true class act. Enjoy your new mandolin!

They had two twin Concert A5s at the Music Emporium. One Engleman and one Adirondack. Both had Red Maple backs. I chose the Adirondack.

Max and Lauri make several "levels" of mandolin. I think it's mostly cosmetic and hardware upgrades. Mine is a Concert level which, if I recall, means fully bound, James Tailpiece, headstock inlay. Standard size. I think there's a sonic difference as well with upgrades but who knows. I know I love the sound of this one!

I spoke to Max before and after the purchase. Really nice guy and I think these mandolins are an incredible value. It was at the top of my budget but I feel like I got a lot of mandolin!
