Default Custom magnetic soundhole pickup by Herrick

I've recently had a really nice custom magnetic soundhole pickup made for my Hathway baglamas.

The instrument is effectively a flat top mandolin, with three double course and a long neck. The sound hole has a diameter of 60mm (two and a quarter inches).

I got in touch with Herrick Pickups https://www.herrickpickups.com and sent them the measurements they asked for, and they made me this:

The pickup's got a lovely clear tone, and I'm impressed at how they got it to fit into such a small soundhole. I had to slacken the strings to get it in, but I didn't need to make any holes in my instrument.

    Hi,

Was wondering where you pick about? Do you pick over the sound hole?

    Regards,

I pick around the 18th fret, the neck joins the body at the 16th fret, and the soundhole starts where the 24th fret would be.

There's a better pic of the instrument on this thread; https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/t...thway-Baglamas
