    Default Scaggs "Daniel Prayed"

help - Can someone tell me what Ricky Scaggs is doing just at the end of his break before Patty Lovelace starts singing again..that low bluesy lead in sound..no tab anywhere....sounds like he's using just 2 strings hammering on from fret 4 to 5 on 4th string with 3rd string left open....Thanks

Can’t really pinpoint the break section you describe.

David McLaughlin’s break on the JMB version is really clean, clear distinct notes.

    Both are great versions.

I think you were right about what he's doing. I believe it sounds "more", because the guitarist is also invading that space with the lower notes that fill out that grinding sound. I used the little gear settings icon to adjust playack speed to 50% and it seemed more like I was able to identify my guess.

Scaggs sounds to be in "get up John" tuning.

    E strings - D / A
    A strings - remain same
    D strings - remain same
    G strings - A / F#

Patty Loveless, whom I have secretly had a crush on since the 1970s. Not to be confused with Linda Lovelace, of more notorious fame.
