Was browsing eBay early one morning last week and found this one. Didn't think long before deciding to get it. Arrived yesterday from California.
What I can figure out about it - earlier as it's all solid wood and has the comma shape F holes. Bridge is 2 piece. The fretboard is rosewood and the headstock overlay appears to be ebony (or another dark stained wood). Logo might be sprayed on, but it looks more like a decal. Under the fingerboard is a dark line almost like an ebony shim for contrast.
Definitely not the higher quality model, though with no double dot at the 12th fret and, well, all the dots are way off center. Like someone trimmed too much from the end before slotting the frets. Plus the F holes are not uniform. Bass side is definitely larger than the right.
Case is a Challenge style with purple interior.
Sound is good. Standard wide D shape neck. For some reason these work better for me than the sharp V of the Gibson from the 1930's.
Any idea on date? Looking through info on the SOL group looks closest to the 706 1/2 model.
