When playing outdoors I have a hard time quickly seeing the tuning scale on my D'Addario micro clip-on Tuner. Anyone have a small bright clip-on tuner they like using.

The Peterson stroboclip is supposed to work well in bright outdoor environments. I have one but haven't put it to the test yet. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

Just bought one. I've been having the same issue with the brightness of the D'Addario ones. I love how small they are, but in any outside light, they vanish. Can't wait to get my TC UniTune.

I’ve been using the d’addario micro that screws onto the tuning machines so it sits under the headstock. Because it’s shaded by the headstock I find it a lot easier to see than the Snarks in an outdoor setting.
Whatever happened to the tuners with a physical needle that swung across a scale?

Like them enough that I've purchased extras for other members in my bands. Heard about these from fiddler Earl White. He was talking about how bright they were and I agree.

Thanks, I bought a TC UniTune. I will also try using the D'Addario micro tuner on the backside of the headstock.
A 440 tuning fork is my back up & what I used before electronic tuners were sold.

I just ordered a Korg piezo clip on mic w/5 foot cable to go into Peterson and /or Turbo pedal tuners but if you want bright, that Turbo tops the charts

Yamaha piano, clarinet, violin; generic cello;
a pedal steel (highly recommended); banjo, dobro don't get played much cause i'm considerate ;}
Shopping/monitoring prices: vibraphone/marimbas, rhodes, synths, Yamaha brass and double reeds
If you have a built in piezo pickup, a pedal tuner in the signal chain with your preamp should work well ..

update: the Korg clipon piezo mike needs a healthy signal boost from preamp or volume pedal to get a Peterson or Turbo tuner to recognize the signal. As a steel and electric 6 string player i have a few VPs and preamps laying around, I would imagine some don't...
