The imprint looks like Daney to me and it may have been added by an owner at some point and may not be a brand name at all. It was most likely built by Oscar Schmidt in New Jersey as NickR has stated. Many manufacturers built "For the Trade" with instruments being sold labeled or unlabeled to distributors, retailers, schools, and teachers to be sold as their own product. It was a common practice.
With all of that said it's a fairly common entry level instrument.
