The Great 48-Hour Jam is on schedule for January 2022 (so far). I'm sure its progress will depend on how things go with Covid19.

This is normally one of our favorite festivals, but it being primarily indoors, we're having 2nd thoughts about attending while there is still concern about catching things. We'll have to see how things go.

For those interested, the Great 48 in Bakersfield is still on schedule at least as of today.

California Bluegrass Association has announced it's a go, with some schedule changes and with enhanced Covid19 provisions.

I've never been to Great 48, but I'm a regular at Wintergrass, which is similarly held in a nice large hotel. It's scheduled to take place as well at the end of February. I'm planning on going but also a little apprehensive.

Early on my wife and I decided not to go to any indoor festivals until post-pandemic. I know a few people who have cancelled their Great 48/Bakersfield reservations due to the recent variant upswing.

That said, the Great 48/Bakersfield is at or near the top of our list for festivals in general, and we hate to miss it. We're hoping 2022 will be the last year we miss it.

Wintergrass would be great too, but it's a lot longer drive from southern California. With a double bass along with our other instruments, and if possible with our little dog, we're not flying.
