Re: Beatles tunes
My list of Beatles songs I've covered, with a few notes:
Across The Universe - a dear friend's favorite song, so I worked it up and recorded it for her
The Ballad Of John And Yoko - often done in my band, The Love Lane Gang
Can’t Buy Me Love - used to do this in an old duo; my partner's idea
Birthday - great riff, in G
Cry For A Shadow - worked on this for The Love Lane Gang but I don't think we ever played it at a gig
Eight Days A Week
From Me To You - first time I heard a bluegrass version of a Beatles song - Monroe Doctrine - a light went on in my head
Get Back - often done at jams
Here Comes The Sun - from busking days with my duo, The Loons
In My Life - one of my go-to's
I’ve Just Seen A Face - very often done at jams
I Want To Hold Your Hand - from busking days with my duo, The Loons; just crossed my mind one day and figured it out, key change and all
Maxwell's Silver Hammer - often done in my band, The Love Lane Gang (never did the third verse)
Mother Nature’s Son
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
Rocky Raccoon - very often done at jams
Slow Down - yes, it's a cover; closely associated with The Beatles; often done in old band, Travelling Light Blues Band; great riff, in G
Something
When I'm 64 - often done in my band, The Love Lane Gang
Yellow Submarine
You Won’t See Me
There might be more, though this seems complete. I didn't include a bunch of songs they covered, just the one.
Worked this up on the occasion of what would have been my dear, departed brother's 64th birthday. I used the mandola because I liked this fingering, but it was the wrong key for my voice with the mandolin.
But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. - Dennis Miller
Furthering Mandolin Consciousness
Finders Keepers, my duo with the astoundingly talented and versatile Patti Rothberg. Our EP is finally done, and available! PM me, while they last!
