Default Using a dummy coil with Piezo

I recently saw a suggestion for using a dummy coil to balance out the impedance of a piezo with installed in a solid body electric.

Got me wondering if this variation on a Strat wiring set-up would work for Neck-Piezo-Bridge pickups?

No idea if it works but you'll need an inductance value and maybe impedance.

A coil is not just a coil.

Looks to me like the dummy coil is wired in series with the piezo, so the net impedance would be greater than that of the piezo alone.

You could build yourself a test rig easily enough, just add a dummy coil pickup in the signal chain outside the instrument and see if you like the changes it produces.

There would be a small change in the inductance (rolling off some highs), altering the tone a bit, but since the piezo already has a high impedance, I wouldn't expect much of a change in total impedance.

Most electric guitars with both magnetic and piezo pickups seem to use a powered onboard pre-amp to actively mix the high impedance (piezo) signal with the low impedance magnetic signal.

I built a little circuit with a transistor etc, that is powered from a 9v battery. Although it is an amplifier circuit it doesn’t increase the volume but matches the impedance.
