    Default Flatiron 3MB Octave/Zouk

Hello. I am presently evaluating a 3MB Flatiron octave/zouk. Years ago I had a Koa version of this instrument and sold it. The one I am presently looking at sounds better than the Koa version, I think, but it has a satin finish, while the Koa version had a thin gloss finish. Does anybody know if the satin finish was commonly used on these Flatiron octaves? I thought they all had a gloss finish. (Perhaps the satin contributed to my perception that the sound of the 3MB is superior?) Thanks for your help.

I've owned a handful of the Flatiron flattops....mandolins, mandola, and octave/zouk. They all had gloss finishes. Do you know what year this one is? Someone could have just taken the shine off the finish. If it sounds good it wouldn't keep me from buying it. Those octaves are a lot of instrument for the money. Just too long of a scale for me.

Hey Shaun. I think its a 1995 and it's in very, very good condition. Sounds pretty good too.
