There's some pretty wonderful stuff on here. For instance:

Soliver arm rested and Tone-Garded Northfield Model M with D’Addario NB 11.5-41, picked with a Wegen Bluegrass 1.4

Did Ronnie do some split string stuff there? On the G string?

Such wonderful but different sounds from those mandolins. Hoss's neck looks so much wider than the Gil. If'n I was forced to choose one, it would be the Gil, but with regrets.

I'm in agreement on most of that, except which instrument I would personally choose - no shade on dan in va, just different tastes and perceptions and likes.

I'd choose Hoss because I'm a total sucker for that wide neck with the block inlays, it has always looked to me like the Les Paul of mandolins. Mojo galore. The tone can be in-your-face, or it can whisper.

Tim O joined Sam for an incredible "Land's End" this past Friday. Epic version. Had to get the mandolin out and try to learn this tune one more time.

Yes epic. One of my favorite tunes. Pleasant surprise to see this posted. Those two doing Land's End, classic. Now, back to work on it. . .
