    Default plans for tenor?

    Hello all,

I am looking to make a tenor guitar. I can't find plans anywhere on the internet and hoping that someone can point me to something.

I want to make an archtop f-hole similar to the older Gibson TG-50. See attached picture, something like that. I know I can adapt archtop guitar plans but I would be more comfortable with specific plans. If I can't get plans then maybe someone could jot down some measurements and I'll draw up my own.

    Thanks!

You would probably have more luck looking for a Gibson L-50 plans, and then figuring out the dimensions for the neck on your own, since the TG-50 has the exact same body as the L-50 just with a tenor neck and scale.

The problem is that you only have four strings to drive the top. Gibson just stuck a tenor neck on a six string body without regard to how it would work. I have thought a lot about building an archtop tenor and I think a 7/8 or 3/4 size body with the same thickness plates as a cello might work? Just throwing out speculation.

A bunch of stuff with four strings
