Hello,

Don Stiernberg is in Skokie

Thanks. He might be a little to busy for a hack like me but I'll ask him if he knows of anyone that might be down a few rungs from his level.

Don Stiernberg is a great teacher and person. You'd have to ask yourself, but I don't think he qualifies his students by how accomplished they are. He's always treated me with respect and helped get from where I was at to someplace better.
Don also has some nice online courses at soundslice.com
You can also try Gus at Guitar Works in Evanston, and the Old Town School of Folk Music had at least a couple of mando teachers last time I looked.
Thanks!

My name is Mark M. and I play mandolin in the bluegrass/jamgrass band River Valley Rangers and live in the SW burbs. I do mandolin lessons as well! Not sure if the SW burbs are your neck of the woods but I can do Zoom also
I’ll throw my hat in the ring. I live in the western ‘burbs of Chicago. I can teach basic Bluegrass. If you are interested, I can teach Classical & Blues styles, as well. Jazz too, but hard to compete w Donnie.
