    Default Sam Bush band

Got to see the Sam Bush band for the first time this past weekend in Georgetown, KY. Man Sammy puts on a show, tons of energy (for a guy that's, I think 69 years old, he brings the heat), he put an absolute whoopin' on Hoss and his band is loaded with talent...Wes Corbett really stood out, he's an amazing banjo player and his note choices had me floored several times.

The highlight of the night for me was when the band was playing "Bananas", where they all really stretched out with phenomenal solos, and before you knew it they were in the middle of "Whippin' Post"...it was a really powerful moment. A close second was during Sam's song "Stop The Violence" where he tore it up on his electric mandolin.

They played for a solid 2 hours. My wife said it was one of the best concerts she's seen ranking right up there with the Paul McCartney show we saw a few years ago. You don't have to be into the mannlin' to enjoy a Sam Bush show.

If you haven't seen Sam live don't wait as long as I did, go see Sammy play ASAP you will not be disappointed. I did see some Mandolin Cafe stickers in the crowd so maybe some of you were there too.
There are three kinds of people: those of us that are good at math and those that are not.

Have seen Sam a half dozen times over the years in Minn and Bayfield Wis. He always brings it. And you always go away amazed.

The one time I was able to see Bush in concert (with the final version of New Grass Revival), I brought my binoculars to watch his hands. That right hand was a blur.

I saw him in the 80's with Newgrass, and am looking forward to seeing him again at Merlefest.

We saw Sam Bush's same show last Friday night at the Back Home Fest in New Martinsville, WV. I have seen Sam play several times. He and his band never fails to impress me. Myself, not being a pure Bluegrass aficionado, likes the way he mixes genres. Regardless of what he is playing, his skill always puts me in awe.

Big shoes to fill. But he seems to realise this. Can’t wait for the next album. Unlikely Sam will be out to australia any time soon.
