I had one pass though several years ago that was just like this one. I didn't get a quarter of that price back then. You're right about the price.

It's a nice looking mandolin.
The functioning buckles on the leather case are pretty rare to see.

Bob Carlin in his Regal book shows a virtually identical mandolin- a model "122-72" which he suggests may be the model and serial number- his example does not have the tailpiece cover. It may just be the serial number alone- I don't know if anyone knows how these numbers are configured. Bob gives a date range of 1901-1904. That crown motif is on the front cover of the book- it being Regal's trade mark which makes sense!
If you can get a clear shot of the labels it should ID it as a Wulschner instrument built in Indianapolis.

Yes, it's a shame he could not get good photos of the labels as I think you would be proved correct that the mandolin was made in Indianapolis.
