    Default Nomd

My new old mandolin arrived today. She's an SS Maxwell from the 1930s, in decent condition for an old girl in her 90s. She came with a nice case and some interesting "documentation," too.

I need to change her strings and give her a good wipe-down, and her tuners could use some clean-up. They seem to slip, too. I will begin with the fresh strings and cleaning up the tuners and then see if I still have a problem.

Thanks! They really are all different, you know? That's what I keep telling myself--and my husband.

That shape looks familiar, but with a different name. Reminds me of what Ray Jackson played on "Maggie May" and "Mandolin Wind."

Ah - Columbus. Similar but different.

I've seen the shape called "Venetian" style but I think that may have been a Kay Kraft thing.

It's cool, Sheila, really cool. Old and funky, and the stuff that came with it is great.
Did you see it before you bought it?
