Once again I am gathering new music and new ideas for the bass clef mandocello. I already have some new material lined up and have been in touch with interested players and composers to be announced when CMSA Convention approaches. When I first started this effort I was told by several people that there was little or no music for solo mandocello, as contrasted with bowed cello transcriptions. So I was surprised to hear from a number of talented composers who were actively writing mandocello music ranging from tuneful exercises to serious compositions.
Now we have August Watters' Progressive Melodies for Mandocello and John Goodin's Four Seasons Suite for Mandocello among other fine work.
So... if you are out there playing and writing original MC music, please contact me--your work will be appreciated by a roomfull of enthusiastic mandocello players.
