This is a performance of Eden Macadam-Somer's lovely bluegrass/old-time-inspired, "Homeward Bound," by the New American Mandolin Ensemble (NAME) from a concert in Steenwijk, The Netherlands, in early June 2014. At the time NAME was a double quartet + bass, its original configuration. I (Robert Margo) am third from the left, playing the mandola part (written for octave) on the liuto cantabile (a five course mandocello, tuned CGDAE from the bottom up) by the late Walt Kuhlman. August Watters is on my left, also playing mandola (octave). Mark Davis (far left) and David Miller (far right) are playing mandolin #1; Bob Asprinio and Mark Levesque, mandolin #2; Beverly Davis and Judy Handler, guitar; and Jim Bates is the bass player.
