Default BRW Mandolins / Ben Wilcox Magazine Article

Pretty sure I came across this photo posted on Mandolin Cafe some years back, but can't seem to locate it now. Would like to figure out what magazine this feature article on Ben Wilcox appeared in. Anyone know? Thanks.

Possibly, The Fretboard Journal: Issue 34, 2015, pages 58-67?

Thanks Jim, but it’s not that one. Nor is it the Ben Wilcox feature in Mandolin Magazine from Fall 2005. Can't think what other magazines would do a feature article on a mandolin builder.

I saw that image in this thread from 2008: https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/t...-get-his-props

Jim Simpson started the thread so he may have a copy. It sounds like it was in Bluegrass Unlimited.

BTW what ever happened to Ben. For a time he was the builder to watch but is he still building?

Don’t think Ben is still building on a regular basis. I have a BRW 2 point…wonderful fit & finish and excellent tone.

Thanks again, Jim, glad to find out where the article came from. Ben underwent a career change some years ago and hung up his chisels. Super talented guy. Will be interesting to see if her resumes building again one day. Hope so!

He didn't complete my last orders and that was a good few years ago.

Acording to his website he quit building 2017, having started to build in 1999 (https://www.benjaminwilcox.com).

No. He stopped building and no longer has a business license. I called him a year or so ago for refrett and maybe exchange. He once offered me a good deal and was curious to see he would still do it.

I am blessed to have a beautiful BRW three point. I’d love to read some of the articles.
