Congratulations, Kevin! That is one gorgeous and sweet, clear-toned mandolin. I know that Hamlett mandolins are also very light in weight, a good thing.

    Thanks fatt-dad and Cheryl!

Yes, it's quite an instrument from a true artist in both word and actions. I'm grateful for the instrument and for John, and have been on the reading end of his intricate knowledge of luthiery.

Cheryl, it is a light mandolin for sure. I was surprised by that. The last really wonderful mandolin I had was a custom Weber Fern which I used to rave about on here a little over 10 years ago. It was special, and it also weighed perhaps twice as much as this two-point. Of course, it was a F model so that created more mass, but still it was as close to a tank as a mandolin can be. It took a lot of digging in to pull out its great tone.

The Hamlett, however, is light and responsive. It can be played lightly and sound sweet, and when I dig into it as much as I care to it handles it well. It has good fundamental volume. The mids are particularly strong with the G and A strings coming in crisp, and the D and E strings bright with plenty of volume. It's just a fantastic new mandolin.

    Hey, Everyone!

The journey continues…. Here’s a sample of how the Hamlett two-point is sounding after three weeks and a second set of strings. I’m still working this one out, so apologies for the exploratory soloing, lol:
