Default Italian mandolin magazines: Il Plettro and Vita Mandolinistica

This may already be widely known, but I have only just noticed that the revived Nakano Archive website also includes a near-complete archive of back issues of "Il Plettro" and "Vita Mandolinistica":

    Il Plettro (Years 1906 - 1944)

    Vita Mandolinistica (1901-1910)

The PDF scans are of rather variable quality, but most include the free mandolin scores published in the magazines.

Wow, Martin, this is a terrific find! There's enough music there to keep us all busy for years. Plus a chance to work on our Italian.

    Thank you!

Incredible find, Martin! Thank you for sharing.
    Great summer reading.

The ads themselves will prove to be very very informative in their own right.

So, you know I had a lot of work planned for today....

    Martin,
while we've had our differences over the years, you just hit a triple homerun! It brings tears to my eyes to see Francesco Tentarelli's compositions. As Editor of the Vita Mandolinistica, he had that right to self-publish and that continued after Vizzari took over. Tentarelli visited NYC once but what happened to him remains a mystery. I mentioned a really short bio in my Heroes book but nobody has been able to tell me what precisely happened. He, like Alessandro Morelli, died soooo young! There's a mandolin trio and an "in memoriam" poem dedicated to Tentarelli that appeared in the November 5th issue. Click image for larger version.

These journal issues were available before but Nakano provided a weird password that didn't always work. I'm so glad you've brought this all back to light, thanks Martin! Tesio published Tentarelli's "A Trip to Dante City" (see the Dropbox). Even though Tesio's utopian vision came to fruition, Tentarelli died too soon to know that it became a "theme song" for Tesio's international village near Hicksville.
