Thread: GDEA Recommendations

    Default GDEA Recommendations

    Hey All,

I’m looking for a tenor that sounds GOOD tuned in GDAE. I’d like to hear what models you own/have owned for guitars that you like in this tuning in the under $1k range. I like old stuff but would go new if one of the cheaper models works well. Doesn’t have to be loud but would like it to be deeper if possible. Appreciate your help!

While some 21” scales (like Fletchers) can be made to work, I prefer a 23” scale for Irish tuning.

Interesting. The only model that seems to be in stock has a 26” scale, putting it more in plectrum range to my way of thinking.

I found another model on Reverb with a 25” scale:

Too bad none of the 23" scales are not available.

BR-40T with strings .45, .30, 20, .13 is perfect intonation and tension. You'll be very happy. Quality instruments and if you're patient you can find one for $400 - $450 in excellent or mint condition.
