One of Nancy's TV appearances I remember watching and was very impressed by her voice. Here's the song "Roseville Fair" that aired on KET.

I bumped into this compilation of Nanci's appearances on Letterman over several years.

I always tear up at the end when I hear her sing "Tecumseh Valley".

Me too. I saw her a number of times starting in '93. At one show in Seattle, I was just about front row, and when she introduced this song, she mentioned how it has especial resonance for her since her middle name is Caroline. She got visibly choked up mid-song and had to pull back to swallow her tears and continue on.
Along with countless others, I fell in love with her then, and will now miss her always.

This is one of my favorite songs by anyone. 68 is not a 21st century age to be dying at

For sure it is not.. I think Nanci was dealing with a chronic disease for a decade or more? Sad news I kind of lost track of her and her music last couple of decades.

RIP Nanci, you were a true talent and left this earth too soon.

Townes once said her version of "Tecumseh Valley" was the best cover anyone ever did of any of his songs, and it's hard to argue with that.

While I was saddened by the loss of each and every musician in this last year or more, the loss of Nancy still saddens me more than any other, and doesn't seem to lessen. There has been so much loss........

Thank you and may peace be with you Nanci.
My wife and I were at that same concert at the Cactus Cafe. Lots of excellent music in that town during those days.

I have been following this thread, but refrained from posting because I didn't know what to say about this huge loss and the void that I felt. This expresses what I have been feeling. Pops1 is right: The sadness doesn't lessen.

A friend turned me on to Nanci’s music in the mid 1980s. What a beautiful voice, and she wrote great songs. Loved seeing her in a concert in Cincinnati in, I think, 1986. I especially like her song “Once in a very blue moon.”
