Sad news, I played mandolin on her first album in 1978
RIP Nanci Griffith
I listened to her music a lot in the 90’s. I always thought her harmonic for the elevator “ding” was the most appropriate use of a harmonic ever.
Saw her at an outdoor show about ten years ago. It seems like yesterday.
Such a sweet person and sweet presence and such a surprise to hear this news. Like so many others, I'll miss her very much.

Got to see her at Telluride a couple times. Had the crowd in the palm of her hand. RIP Nanci.

Another one gone too early. Sent me back to my favorite video of two of our dearly departed.
still trying to turn dreams into memories
I am deeply saddened to learn of Ms. Griffith's death. I have gotten such joy and inspiration from her music for many years. I wish all the best to her family and all those who cared for her.

So sorry to hear this. Saw her in the 80s and 90s. What a good soul and singer songwriter. She left this world too soon.
It's a sad day indeed, I loved Nancy's music and will miss her.
THE WORLD IS A BETTER PLACE JUST FOR YOUR SMILE!
Sad news. I will never forget hearing her at the Cactus Cafe during a rare Austin snowstorm in about ‘84 or ‘85. Great intimate show. Went with a gal who eventually became and still is my wife. An unknown Lyle Lovett opened for her and sat with us during Nanci. That awesome acoustic music inspired me to swap my Les Paul for a D-28. A few years later came the mandolin. Thank you and may peace be with you Nanci.
It doesn't matter . . . I'm going to WINFIELD!!!!!
Great voice and great songwriter. RIP Nancy - condolences to family &. close friends.
Respect, people - it's Nanci with an "i"
This is one of my favorite songs by anyone. 68 is not a 21st century age to be dying at
Many thanks for the music Nanci, RIP.

So sad, yes, in the 21st century 68 is too young to pass to the larger life!

Very sad news.
Flags at half-mast here in town, though it's a far different place than when Nanci called it home.
Her music epitomized everything I love about Texas.

Hearing the news on the radio really stunned me. So young, and gone too soon. A friend from college introduced me to her while we were in school, and I went through all of her albums on a loop for a good number of years. One of my regrets is never having the chance to see her live in person. RIP Nanci. You will be forever missed.
May Nanci rest in peace. I play a few of her songs at gigs and I am going to (in my small way) pay homage to her at my next gig.

Thanks Nanci.
A deeply hurtful loss of one of the greats -- talent, sensitivity, humor and gentleness.
