    Default Dagger Gordon CDs

I have finally got round to getting my old recordings on Bandcamp. You can hear/buy my albums Highland Mandolin and The Frozen River, plus my CD with my son Colin - Like Father/ Like Son.

I'm very glad to be doing this. Highland Mandolin was the first album of Scottish music to feature the mandolin and first came out in 1988. The Frozen River featured a lot of my own compositions, with some of the finest musicians here in the Highlands, while Like Father/ Like Son was a collection of favourite older Scottish tunes recorded in a single day on mandolin and guitar.

I must thank Gordon Gunn, and Alison Smith (of Maxwell Music) for enabling me to do this.

    I hope you enjoy them.

    Cheers Dagger.

I got the CD of you and Colin a long time back, Dagger - at a concert you did - and still enjoy listening to it.

Just bought the Highland Mandolin. Really enjoying it. Dagger, are the sleeve notes online or available anywhere? I'd he curious to read any info on the tunes. Also, are you playing your current 10 string Sobell on this album?

    Thanks again for posting.

The sleeve notes on Highland Mandolin were not very extensive, Sean. If you've any questions I'm happy to answer. I can maybe scan them or something.
If you're interested in who plays on each track, it is usually me on mandolin and guitar (Dick Clarke on guitar on The Shandwick Stone set and Duncan MacGillivray on tenor guitar on Forbes Morrison) plus Malcolm Robertson and Katie Harrigan on low whistle and clarsach (track 2), Iain MacBeath on fiddle and Duncan on whistle.

Yes I play the same Sobell 10 string on Highland Mandolin throughout, apart from three Sobell octave mandolin tracks. Thanks for your interest and indeed your purchase.

    Cheers Dagger

Thanks for the info Dagger. I suppose the main question I would have would be which ones are your own compositions?

Nice one. Always a good sign when you have to ask if it's a new or old tune, although I did have my suspicions about 'hunt for the septic tank'
