Default Price range for a Gilchrist model 2 mandolin

How much would a used Gilchrist model 2 be priced at these days? A price range will suffice. I am assuming one in excellent condition.

    Thanks

Model 1's have sold in the past for 5K-6.5K if my memory is right. Haven't been any for sale lately. A Model 2 might be a bit higher depending on inlay/binding/etc. or about the same depending on the year.

You could contact Carters for an expert opinion since they handle all Gilchrist orders.

    Thanks Don

That is some really useful information and ideas you have presented. Thanks for offering up your suggestions.

I'd do some mental calculations and came up with some similar estimates. In a a way you validated my assessments of value of Model 1 and 2 mandolins.

Picked up a Model 1 six months ago for 8k shipped. I have kept an eye on Model 3s and the are asking 13 to 15k. I have not seen a 2 for sale in awhile.

I like Gilchrist ovals and haven't seen a Model 2 for sale since a 1997 Model 2 (I think it was #399 or 400) came up for sale in 2012. Steve has made fewer than 15 Model 2s of his 820-some instruments. See list below. I want to say that one was between $8500 and $11000, but it had had a minor repair.
