Default South State 48 - looks awesome!

So I just heard about South State 48 jam in Carlsbad CA. Looks like it's gonna be a great time for pickers.

Rooms are booked both in the main hotel and the backup hotel, however I've recently heard there are dry-camping sites available for RVs on the campus.

And, people are welcomed to come in for the day if desired. We might do that.

I heard yesterday that there may still be a small handful of un-booked rooms available for this event. Worth checking into for people interested in staying there.

My wife and I have decided to go and participate in the outdoor jamming for one day, not to stay overnight. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

I'll be there on Saturday. I'll look for you - the guy with the white beard. I'll be wearing a Station Inn black t-shirt. Matt Bruno will be teaching a workshop at 11am.

I'll look for you. White beard too. Probably wearing a black leather Marlow topper and playing an '02 F-9 in "Vintage Brown".

Leaving the banjo, Dobro and double bass home. You can have lots of mandolins in a jam before they sound obnoxious.

    Don:

Please excuse my poor english. I meant to say that I will look out for you who has the white beard. I am clean shaven. I think I'll bring my Sorensen Sprite 2-pt mandolin.

Ok, gotcha... I'll look forward to seeing you! I suspect there will be a good assortment of Sorensen mandolins there.

Don: unfortunately I couldn't go because I caught the flu bug, so not a good idea to spread it around. I'll catch up with you at the next one. Glad you had a good time.

Ahhh, sorry you couldn't make it. Was very pleasant, nice outdoor venue, excellent weather.

    Get well soon Lucas!

Great to see you too! Yes, sorry about not being able to jam -- we were sort of short of time at that moment. Our band mates, who had been there since Friday night, were starved and we were trying to get them off campus and out for a big dinner. After that was accomplished we came back and jammed until about 9pm.

After almost 2 years of daily jamming (online) with my mandolin, I'm really enjoying jamming with it at in-person jams. My banjo is getting jealous. We've even made mandolin a regular thing in our band sets now, just for a little more variety. So I do look forward to some mandolin jamming with you when we can again!

But unfortunately it looks like we're not going to be able to go to Bakersfield this year, we'll miss that!
