Thread: Jenkins/Washington Bowlback Mandolin

    Default Jenkins/Washington Bowlback Mandolin

This has great inlays on the board. I am assuming this was not made by Jenkins but was made in Chicago- probably, by Lyon & Healy. The neck profile is not shown but the rest of the mandolin appears to be okay but I have not looked that closely at the photos.

Headstock resembles some American Conservatory (L&H) similar to this style 607 (lower right hand corner) in attached color page from my 1912 catalog. The top even has pearl bordering though the 607 has different fretboard inlays but a lot more ribs. This ebay one could be a nice player. I am sure that retailers contracting with L&H could specify what ornamentation they wanted on an order of instruments.
