Default Boss AC-3 Acoustic Simulator vs Boss AC-2 Acoustic Simulator

    I can't find a description on the difference between the AC-2 & AC-3.
The AC-2's are reasonably priced. The AC-3's are not.

Does anyone know what the difference is?

btw I bought a cheapo Koogo simulator a few months ago and love it. But it's noisy.
Does it sound acoustic? No but it has a great sound.

Know ? no. I guess the 3 replaced the 2 .. Roland/Boss not answering their phone?

Years ago I got a Y'ha AG , they purport to warm an acoustic guitar's under bridge piezo .. give it more mic'd body sounds..

I haven't found the answer and foolishly thought someone would tell me. I'll get in touch with Boss.

    There’s a short thread from 2010 here: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/in...s-ac-3.686188/
The final poster says the model 3 is far superior in modeling.

The AC2 was innovative but not quite there, though it has its supporters. The AC 3 sounds much better. It uses Boss CSOM technology to simulate the guitar. Once this tech became available boss used it in a lot of its simulators.

I have an AC 3 which I like. Alone it’s close to an acoustic. In a mix it’s almost indistinguishable, so close as to not be an issue.

Those who don’t like it don’t seem to realise you always plug into the PA jack, never the amp jack. Even when going into an amp.

I haven’t tried it on my soldbody mando, but it’s a four string (not eight) so still wouldn’t sound right.

Through a telecaster neck pickup or a Gretsch it sounds excellent.
