    Default Mandolin for work

    Hey folks.
I look for a cheap but nice mandolin for work in a kindergarden. I don´t like to take my better mandolin to work and back every day. So I looked for some options. I found the ´recording king ram 3 ts´

Either of these would meet your needs, if properly set up. You might also consider the Rover RM-50, which is all solid woods and a carved top, for about the same price as the Loar.

Don't forget a decent kindergartener-proof case, as well...

Later: reviewing the RM-50 specs, I find Saga saying the top's carved, other sellers just saying "solid spruce"; that could mean it's heat-pressed. Never owned one myself, so only dealing with published specs.

    Thank you very much Allen.
I also found the Rover some months ago but only available in England. Price of shipping to Germany was nearly 100 more. So this is not the deal I would prefer.
I don't need a case at all. I can keep the mandolin in my room. Already got some other instruments on the wall.

You certainly do! Hope you keep 'em humidified, hung on the wall as they are.

    Nice collection...

I bought a Recording King mandolin a few years ago, primarily because it was inexpensive and I wanted an instrument I could consider disposable. It was an A style supposedly model after a mandolin from the 1933 World's Fair in chicago. At first, I really did not like it at all, but when my Eastman 515 ended up at the shop for a couple of weeks, I played the Recording King every day, and although I am not recommending it as a primary instrument, it did suffice. I got used to it in a couple days and found it quite acceptable as an emergency/beach/campfire mandolin.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Thank you Allan, thank you GMorgan.
Yes, although I have the Loar 310f and it´s okay for what I´m able to play, maybe the recording king is a little cheaper. And my next banjo will be a recording king. the rk-r35. Maybe I can try this brand.
