This interview is a real gift to the world.
Markus let Mike say what ever he wanted. Mike was able to cover EVERYTHING. His musical world, the musical world of Germany, music culture and history of his life, personal goals and philosophy, relations with famous musicians, his Loar mandolin and relations with instrument builders and online music instruction. So much information and worth seeing again.
Can't think of a better gift to young musicians than this discussion here. Mike really 'nailed it' on this one.

Makes me wonder if the next innovative corner to be turned in reinventing this acoustic music yet again, is a merger with the techno that came out of Europe in the 1990s.

    Many thanks for this interview.

Mike is such a wonderful musician who pushed away boundaries of mandolin music . A master.

one statement that stuck with me about Tony Rice's guitar playing

"It wasn't metronomic. It was buoyant and floating"

That hit the nail on the head, and absolutely is the difference.
