    Default New OM

Here is my latest OM. Made as a custom order, and is now in the hands of the happy customer. I am a very happy luthier, it turned out way better than expected, and more will be made in the future. A bit unconventional, 2 point asymmetrical flat top. Made from native Australian woods, King Billy Pine top, Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides, Queensland Walnut neck. X braced with 22inch scale length. Sorry no sound clips, I am a terrible OM player, but it is easily the best sounding I have made so far.

Wat a beautiful instrument, Peter. I love that asymmetrical profile adn your choice of timbers; also the very understated decoration and finish.

How do those Aussie woods compare to traditional tonewoods?

King Billy Pine is similar to Cedar or Redwood, although it does sound different, and many would say better. I do prefer it over Cedar or Redwood. Tasmanian Blackwood is closely related to Koa, and looks similar and sounds pretty much identical to Koa.

Lovely, Peter! I love the woods. Beautiful. I only wish I had an opportunity to play one of your instruments. Ah, someday!
