Just tried this mandolin yesterday since I was bopping around town. VERY good mandolin... whoever ends up getting it should be pretty happy with it!

I mean, someone in this thread should buy it, just saying
How about a community Nugget?
I'll chip in a few bucks. Say we all throw in $5-$10 bucks and pass it around, "eternally"?
It needs our love
Whew, 18 k for a A model...but by buddy Tom Sanderson assures me that they are worth every penny.

A bunch of stuff with four strings
A buddy has a Nugget A5 that is a phenomenal mandolin. But $18k is a bit steep…

No matter how many agree about that, it only takes one person with desire and funds to prove that the price is right.
still trying to turn dreams into memories
Also guessing if you contacted the store directly you may be able to figure out something more agreeable than a reverb listing.
That's going through a 3rd part seller: Owner>store consignment>Reverb.
Take the listed $18k, pull out a 25% store seller's fee off the top. Then take close to 25% more off for taxes and bank fees and Reverb's chunk. What you are left with is a realistic price of what they trade for between private sellers- approx. $9k; close to what Mike will charge you for a new one. I'll guarantee he is monitoring this thread.....
When an owner drops off an instrument like this, they get the standard,"Howmuchyawant????". The dealer then adds on all the other fees on top and comes up with $18k to charge a random person who walks in off the street or over the internet. Basic retail pricing.....
If I had to buy any other builder's mandolin for myself, Mike would be my first choice!
Listing shows sold. Fess up Jake or Scott.

Andrew Marlin was playing a Nugget last time I saw......expect the prices to rise. The mandolin market is having its own climate crisis.
I was in TME today, and people are buying $7k guitars like they are doing out of style (maybe they are). They have very few mandolins.
I actually had a dealer ask me a few weeks back to trade him instruments. They were not interested in cash!

That is one nice-looking Nugget A5 Deluxe- love the inlay on the headstock. Bet it sounds great and will find a buyer.
It’s sold, John.

They are looking for stock, especially older instruments of quality.
I accompanied a fellow to Nashville 3 or 4 weeks ago. He was interested in a new small body Martin. He had a '66 D-18 in decent, but not beautiful condition to trade. He had not been able to sell it locally. He asked for my advice on a trade-in price. Usually, on trades, a dealer will offer no more than 60% of what they think they can sell an instrument for. I suggested that if they offered him $2500, he should take it. To my surprise, they offered him $3250. He went for it. The dealer listed that D-18 at about $3800, and it sold in less than a week.
There are no used Gibson F-4's in Nashville today. 2 years ago, there were over a dozen collecting dust in Nashville alone. If you make a current survey of the well-known dealers throughout the country, you will only find a handful available today across the whole US.
Folkway Music in Canada is selling old Gibson and Martin instruments as soon as they are posted.
After a 12 year bear market, old instruments of good quality are once more in demand. I don't know whether this is just a spike, or whether we're really going back to a rising market. So far, this trend has been going for a year. Some, but not all prices are rising. For anybody who is wanting to sell or trade, this is a good time to do it.
