Bought this on an impulse without trying it, and I'm really liking it. Here it is alongside my Kentucky 272.

I'm afraid the 272 is not going to get much playing time now...

    That’s a pretty pair right there. :-)

I love my Eastman and feel they’re better than ever these days. Good volume, nice tone, easy-playin’.

    Sounds clips when you can!

Beautiful mandolin OP! Are the neck widths similar on Eastman and Kentucky mandolins?

The necks seem similar in thickness but the Kentucky has a noticeable V-shape whereas the Eastman is more round. Also the Eastman has thinner frets. I believe the 500 line has thicker fret wire compared to the 300's.

Eastman's are spec'd/published at 1 3/32", so a little narrower than most of the Kentucky necks, which seem to be 1 1/8" (not listed on the Saga site, but that's what's published on most vendor listings). Eastman's are radiused and Kentucky models come both flat and radiused, IIRC. Some models specifically say they have a radius but some models just don't say. I believe this is something that may be dependent on when it was manufactured, too, so if you're looking at one, I'd simply call the vendor.
