Thread: New NMD - Collings

    Default New NMD - Collings

Since my last first mandolin didn’t work out and was returned, I’m counting this one as my first mandolin.

2014 Collings MF Deluxe with engraved James tailpiece. 7 years old and not a mark on it. Even as a newbie, I can tell it sounds and plays fantastic. I’m really looking forward to learning how to play it.

Thanks! Back and sides are satin nitro. Thinking about using Virtuoso to add a bit of gloss.

    Here’s the back.

That's an awesome next first mandolin. Should stave off MAS for awhile, anyway. Pick on!

Very cool. And that is a great looking one. As a first mandolin, that's also a great last mandolin if you so chose. Betting it sounds as good as it looks.

And as much as I love Collings, that James tailpiece is a nice upgrade.

    Enjoy!

Oh my, is that ever a beautiful mandolin!
Very happy for you. I too have a Collings and could be more happy with it.
I think you will be wonderfully impressed with how it even warms up and becomes an even better instrument with time and playing.
Mine will even change tone and become more warm and complex after about 30 mins of holding it and playing.
I hope yours proves to be as rewarding as mine has been!

Thanks everyone, it is a beautiful instrument capable of much more than I will likely ever be able to give it. It is a 2014 model and Morgan Music advertised it as mint which is absolutely correct. I can’t find a single mark on it. It’s as if it was cased and placed under the bed just a few days after it was purchased.
