Default Canadian trad music festival videos

(This isn’t specifically mandolin oriented, though a number of mandolin-related instruments turn up in the accompaniments. Still, I haven’t watched everything, so there may be mandolin solos that I’ve missed.)

If you’re interested in Canadian traditional music, the Gatineau Hills Fiddle Festival took place this past weekend (Oct. 22 -24, 2021). Organizers posted the festival’s three concerts on YouTube. I hurt myself a few days ago, so was able to make it in person, but enjoyed some live broadcasts online. (Don’t worry, everyone at the venue was double vaccinated, and I noticed considerable elbow room compared to concerts I've attended in the same hall.) Performers included a number of Fr-Can fiddlers from Quebec, “Celtic” fiddlers in Irish revival style, Andrea Beaton from Cape Breton, and Calvin Vollrath from Alberta, but surprisingly few fiddlers who played in the local Ottawa Valley style. Unfortunately, the videos do not stop between performances, so there are gaps of half an hour or more where you’ll have to scroll ahead. I especially enjoyed Andrea Beaton’s and Tracy Dare’s performance at the end of Concert # 2, and Calvin Vollrath’s performance with Jeremy Rusu at the end of Concert # 3. Enjoy.

Here is a link to the festival schedule — see the pink boxes for concert lineups.

That should have been "unable to make it" as you probably realized.
