I would still think an instrument built in the era where he was building alone would demand a bit higher premium than one he build as part of a team.

Just my opinion. Even if I didn't own this instrument, I would still believe that.

The point is that you are arguing with yourself. Nobody has said it isn't. Any instruments value is what you can get someone to pay for it. It's pretty simple really.

Everyone was arguing that it wasn't a 1988 until I posted pics. Did you miss that part?

You said you got an e-mail from Saga saying it was a 1988. At that point what was said prior wasn't an issue. What are you looking for?

Read the thread again. They argued with that too.

They were arguing that. You dated the instrument with an e-mail from Saga. That ends anyone's argument. What does it matter after you've dated it? I still don't understand what you're seeking? You were able to date it.

I have a KM-1500, serial #87102. This is the response I got from David Gartland at Saga:

"Thanks for the question and definitely a fine instrument.

The serial number tells you the date is was made…1987
What that tells us it was made in Japan.

I found an old catalog page from 1988 which has the description..sorry no image, but you got the real deal.

We hope this helps and thanks again for asking. Enjoy."
