Default Two mandolins from the same maker

This has always been something that has intrigued me. Purchasing two to a few instruments from the same maker. Who has at least a couple mandolins built by the same builder? I also enjoy the idea of having a mandolin and a fiddle made by the same maker, which I do, and I love it...
Caleb Klauder has his Sullivan mandolin along with his Sullivan built fiddle.

    # 107 and 108. 108 was built for me and I acquired 107 later.

I have two Collings MT2 mandolins, both custom ordered with 1 3/16 wide fretboards at the nut. One with F-holes and one with an oval and a one piece birds eye maple back. Very similar yet very different instruments. Both are old enough to have been made when Bill was still around, though I doubt he ever had anything to do with them.

I am completely happy with both of them, they are amazing instruments and are satisfyingly playable up the neck. I got them for obvious reasons (f vs oval hole) but they did not end MAS the way I had hoped…

I have a feeling you are looking for smaller builders, or more similar instruments? Are you looking for any particular observations?

I have a Girouard Concert A5 and I have a Girouard A4 on order. I think they will be the last mandolins I purchase.

I could use a guitar bodied octave and maybe an f hole mandola. Possibly a floating bridge small bodied bouzouki. There's always something

Here is my Heiden pair. Heritage A and Artist F. Both have the lush Heiden overtones and the quick responsiveness. The A is lighter and less bass dominant. I'm lucky to have these two axes Click image for larger version.

I'm still pounding on two Lloyd LaPlant mandolins. One A-style Lloyd built for me in the early 80's. Custom cedar top and asked him to finish the fret board like a J-200. The F-style is my main instrument and has plenty of cutting power and subtle tones, well balanced for stage and studio work. Would not trade them for the world.

We had a pair of Paul Duff instruments, an H-5 mandola w/Virzi and an F-5. Still have the H-5 but the F got sold to fund a household upgrade project. Come to think of it, the household got sold too. I know they are not two mandolins but close enough for inclusion.

Ok Demetrius the gig is up! We know you're working for the MAS marketing people getting all of us who seem to have this MAS thing under control lose their will power.
Sure show us not one but two Sullivan's, Heidens, Girouard, Ratliff, Gibson, etc. What! Only one of those , you need another! Sorry I'm not buying it. And I'm going to go lock up my credit card.
Now, let the show care on
    I'm drooling already.

I currently have 2 Givens mandolins - #131 (brown one) and #631 (black top). It's interesting to have 2 mandolins from the same builder - 500 mandolins apart.

Not long ago, I bought 2 L&H style C mandolins to see which suited me. The later short scale sounded so much better to my ears than the earlier long scale, so the short stayed and the long took another ride. I chalked the expense up to education.

There are some really nice looking mando pics in this thread!

How broadly are we applying the term “mandolin?” I custom ordered a blacktop A2-z with a Virzi from Mike Black:

I did have two Gil's at one point. That was a treat, but I only really played the same one, so I ultimately let the A model go (and it seems to change hands a lot...) But, I only have one Jon Cooper fiddle and I'd really like to get another. I have a Guarneri model that is superb, but I'd love to get a Signature model to go with it. And for the record, I do have a Halsey bow and it is ridiculously good.

I currently own two mandolins made by Breedlove. I havd been considering buying an upper end A style model, and then this little Breedlove A style OF model showed up on the acoustic guitar forum. The price was reasonable so I thought why not give it a chance. It just showed up yesterday, and I played it for a few hours, and I think I got lucky as it’s a real nice Mandolin which has a slightly more open tone than my FF model. I plan to record a little song with them as a duet and I will post that up in a few days.

Does sequential ownership count? I've had 4 Gibson oval holes over the years, but only an A2z and a '23 F2 at the same time. Also sequential Ellis mandolins: an A5 and the current twin point The wife currently sez: "One in, one out".
