Default Weber Aspen: Please recommend an armrest

    Hello Mandolinists,

I have a Weber Aspen mandolin (no number on the label) that I would like to add an armrest to.

It's important that the armrest go over the tailpiece.

    What would you recommend?

    Thank you,
    Aldon Sanders

Just a suggestion, call the folks at Cumberland Acoustics and discuss your needs. They may be able to craft something to your specification for coverage of the armrest. I have one of their armrests and they are well made.

I have a CA and. Soliver’s, who’s a member here. Both are fine, I prefer the Soliver.

I have standard CA armrests on both of my F-style mandolins. They probably aren't as comfortable as some of the larger sculpted, small-shop made armrests that we often see available, but personally I actually prefer the CA armrests' spartan design...

That said, I haven't seen CA advertise any armrest that covers the tailpiece. As has been mentioned, CA might be willing to custom build one that does.

The Webber armrest which fits over a built-in tailpiece, while pricey, is nicely designed and it provides some access to the tailpiece for string replacement. But it only works with the armrest's integral tailpiece.

At least for my situation, The Webber armrest and any other armrest that covers the tailpiece would probably prevent use of some of the nicer available 3rd party tailpieces. That would be a deal breaker for me.

Actually, the description and picture that the URL points to describes an armrest that includes an integral tailpiece. The armrest apparently does not come without the built-in tailpiece, which is apparently also part of the mounting mechanism.
