Ended or not... I think that one may be an outlier, pricewise. Much lower asking price than one would expect to pay for a Hutto. Especially a rare, early example like that one exhibiting no sign of his future lutherie skills.

All the various Hutto mandolins I've seen here on the MC have been in the rage of $10k.
The first one I remember seeing was in 2013 and it was listed at $9k.

$2,000 on Reverb was the deal of the decade, regardless of condition. I was thanking Dan Scullon for the tip and about to reply to the seller, when I saw the "Sold" sign. The previous posts suggesting 9 - 10K are consistent with what I recall seeing. But if the OP is looking for quick sale at 2K, I'm your man. LOL.

The Hutto used to be my dream instrument. Carter Vintage in Nashville recently had a great one at around $9500. IMO, it was the best thing they had at that price point out of at least 50 or so mandolins.

I was with the current owner when this was purchased. The owner (possibly original) passed away and the widow sold the mandolin to a guitar shop in San Diego. The guitar shop was the one that put it on reverb and was inundated with inquiries and realized the pricing was off so he took the listing down and is why it says "ended" instead of "sold". The case had some tools in it and it was apparent the owner had done what looked like a little bit of self repair/experimenting on it but nothing that really damaged the playability/sound. It has a lot of cosmetic issues to it so he was trying to sell it at a guitar show for $5,000, but ended up letting it go for 4k. It couldn't have ended up in a better new home and is played daily and cherished greatly.
