Default Hamlett Two-Point - Four Month Check In

    Hi Everyone,

I had some time today to make a short recording of the way the Hamlett two-point is sounding after four months of consistent playing and care. It's sounding quite robust to my ears. In this video, the mandolin has a new set of J75s and a bit higher action than before. The higher action has a notable impact on the sound and on my fingers, lol. Apologies ahead of time for any lackluster playing. :-)

Any thoughts about this are appreciated!

Thanks, ccraven. The tone is fantastic. After the video I lowered the action just a tad and the depth if the tone really emerged. I’ll make a follow up and post it in this thread.

    Sounds great.

I like watching your videos, you can always tell how much you enjoy your mandolin. It's good to find a keeper!

Kevin - Thanks for the follow up post and video. The Hamletts i've heard have wonderful projection, workmanship, stain, finish, balance and modern tone. And yours checks every box with conviction! All the appointments are elegant and tasteful. i hope you'll keep us updated with its progress as it opens up more. It will be great to know how it sounds in 2 or 3 years. Meanwhile, please enjoy it to the max and play it unmercifully.

Aww, thanks everyone. I’m glad you checked the thread and commented. It’s a blessing to share something so special with like-minded people who understand.

I posted this in a different thread, but this project today showcases the tone with a little lower action really well:
