    Default Blind Pick-Off!

    Hi Everyone,

Here’s a blind pick-off for you. The types of picks are not revealed in the video. I’ll state them in this thread eventually, if people chime in about their favorites, etc. Note: I had the action quite high in my mandolin. It’s now posted because I found it to be too much. So, just know the action was a little too high when I made this video:
    Hamlett Two-Point
    Eastman MD805

It's really hard to tell. To my ears they all sounded pretty much the same. Thanks, though.

Auditory challenges are fun but so subjective and difficult to judge (even live). Here's my elav:

    #1 - bright, good tone
#2 - brightest of the 3, good tone if you like that amount of brightness
#3 - most muted in tone, my favorite b/c that's the sound I prefer
    Chris Cravens

    Girouard A5
    Montana Flatiron A-Jr.
    Passernig Mandola
    Leo Posch D-18

I preferred #2 but #3 was a close second. They sounded the fullest to me. #1 seemed to have a thin tone. It's interesting how people hear the same thing differently!

    Thanks, Everyone!

I lowered the action a bit after making this video and it really helped bring out the tone. To my ear the differences are more discernible.

I’ll eventually reveal which picks are which. For now… keep ‘em coming!

You lowered the action after making the video and now the tone is more discernable? To you I guess, but we can't hear it since we are listening to the video. Huh? Since the action was lowered after the video was made why tell us this?

Spirit of discussion…. That’s how this thread rolls, my brother.
