Default Electric Blues on Mandolin - Farther Up the Road

    Hey Everyone,

Here's something new for me. I love older school electric blues like Freddie King but also a bit older than that. Here's an attempt to convert Bobby Blue's rendition of Farther Up the Road, with some feel from Eric Clapton and The Band's rendition on The Last Waltz. It's a new way of playing for me so I'm working on getting it a bit smoother, but it seems to be coming around nicely. :-)

Great job! Nice to see how much you love playing. I can her the difference, since you lowered the action. That chop at the beginning is fierce.

I gotta try those 75s on my two-point

Thanks so much, everyone. Yes, Mitch, the J75s really pull out some big tone this mandolin is capable of. If I was needing to rip through fiddle tunes or otherwise play fast a lot I’d likely switch to the J74s.

Great to hear, Mark! That's what this place is all about. Would love to hear what you're working on too. I'm still neck deep in the blues. :-)

Thanks for the invitation Kevin, I’m a little too lazy to create videos right now, here is one I whipped out in response to a question “what are you working on” in the newbies social group a couple months ago. Since then, I’ve gotten a lot further with these ideas from Rich DelGrosso. I’ll post a couple other vids in the sister thread you started.
