    Default Unusual instrument

I came across this mandolin in a photograph from about 1930, possibly taken in Italy. A two-point f hole instrument that looks like a flat top and has a Lyon and Healy style headstock. Look familiar to anyone? Just curious

A closer look seems to show a round soundhole as well.

Oval and f-holes, scrolled headstock like a violin -- "made in Italy" sounds likely to me. Other ideas?
