    Default "The Gibson" logo

I just bought a 1924 Gibson A1 Snakehead (and am loving it!) While I was shopping for one I saw a few 1923's and 1924's that did not have The Gibson on the headstock. Does anyone know why some had it and some did not? Mine does and it has been described as carnival silk screen.

The basic A model didn't generally get the logo. It was on the next models up. That may not hold true for all years. If you go to www.mandolinarchive.com and search through the 1922-1924 years and look for listings with images you'll see the basic A models sans logo. There are time when folks have added the logo to a model that didn't have it.
