Bill McCall said: “The seating position for guitar v Mando is quite different. For me, a straight backed chair would be awful.”
Guitar or mandolin family, I generally sit “up & forward”. A chair with a low back & short throw seat works best for me. The saddle-like shape of the “Original” guitar chair seat (and a couple of the others mentioned) is also appealing. As you say: YMMV.

Looks like this banjo-mandolin began life as a barstool! Naugahyde top!

Well, I ain't gonna say that's nuts, but ... it is! At first glance, I thought, that's not gonna sound like anything, then I saw the pickup. I still don't think it will sound like much. Wonder if there are any videos with it on the seller's youtube channel?
More of a chair mandolin than a mandolin chair, right?

Right. Good point. The banjo nature has been obliterated by replacing the head this way. It's an electric mandolin, regardless of its original state, which is continued in its form. Form, not function. Is it worth $430, with no volume or tone knobs? You decide. On the plus side, in a pinch, you could sit on it.

Well it's not worth $430 to me, if I wanted one I would take the banjo mandolin I have and make one. The lack of a volume/tone is not a problem and is cheap and easy to add. I would take the resonator off, why carry the extra weight.

Just a note to thank M19 for alerting me to the SoundChair. Mine arrived two days ago and it immediately became clear that when they come to write my biography, they will divide my mandolin career into two phases, before and after The Chair.
