    Default Safe(-ish) stand/s for fiddle + mandolin?

Anyone got a good solution for floor stand/s to take fiddle and mandolin? I'd like to be able to have a fiddle, an octave fiddle and a mandolin within reach. This is for use with the kind of folk band that mostly sits down to play, not one with people moving around. Hangers attached to mic stands look precarious, as do tall tripod fiddle stands that can be knocked over easily (seen that happen). My idea is that if it starts at floor level it doesn't have far to fall, and I can make holders for my carbon bows out of plastic drainpipe. Thanks, Max

I prefer Ingles violin/viola stand. (approx.) $30 for best price I saw (I think Sweetwater). I have 4 that see lots of use with no issues. Very stable. I have never used one for an OM but believe it would work.
The bow hanger is ideal for hanging your strap, keeping it out of the way while your instrument is on the stand.

I’m not really a fan of stands. I use them for my guitars, but there’s always a concern.

And what if you’re in a room with old friends and maybe an ex-girl/boyfriend along with stands with valuable mandolins on them?
-what if you all have to get out of that room, like pronto?
    Expect issues.

+1 on the Ingles stand. They're secure and hard to tip over. Plus they are built like a tank. It will just hold my Eastman OM with a little room to spare, but I prefer one of my Hercules guitar stands for it. Mine Ingles stands about 15 years old now and the foam still feels fine.

I would never store anything for very long on a stand though. Any foam will eventually react with the finish if the instrument isn't removed every few days. This is especially true for lacquer finishes.

I don’t like to keep instruments on stands all the time. I am afraid I will kick them over. I have a Cooper stand but never really used it, however it is a very clever design and I enjoy opening and closing it.

I use this one. Very stable and close to the ground, plus easy to carry.

You could get a Hercules double for the other two. I use one for my mandolin, a friend uses a triple for guitars. The are solid, stable stands.

maybe not what you want, but hangs three, not sure if it handles thin necks like a mandolin, should be easy to find out.

i have this, not sure if it comes with a 3 head hanger but i think it does. 5 leg support, most stable stand i have encountered-never checked to see if it will hold a mando but if you want me to i can in a few days.

Well, in that situation you could use wine bottle stands to limit damage to instruments from flying liquids, and remove all weaponry on entry?

Well, depends on what you see as a weapon. You never know how ex's feel about mandolins, and some French bread is pretty solid.

Here's a clamp on ukulele holder, one could make up a multiple stand holder. I have the Hercules ukulele floor stand and it works great for mandolin.

I use the Cooperstand stands - a guitar sized one will fit my tenor banjo and mandolins and the mini will fit mandolins and I presume fiddles. Yes, stands are not for everyone but I play seated in a cramped Irish session where I pretty much keep one instrument on the floor between my knees and these little elegant stands are perfect for that use. Yes, some idiot can knock the instrument over as with any stand, but these Cooperstands are amazingly stable and compact.

I have three ProLine stands for my mandolins and really like them. They are well made and well padded in the right places.

I agree, I use a Hercules GS303B, which is for mandolin and violin and easily folds, when you don't need it. A great stand and not expensive.

I've had good fortune with this Fender guitar floor stand for my mandolin. It's a hanging stand that cups the headstock nicley. https://www.fender.com/en-US/accesso...991803000.html captwasabi

The Ingles violin stand works perfectly and is super stable. I use it for both violin and mandolin and have had zero issues over many years.

Solid Ground stands. Folds flat in seconds and fits into its carry bag. Very sturdy. Thinking of one for guitars.

You mentioned three instruments on a stand. I have one like this (but I don't know if its the same brand; I'm currently away from home).

Very stable, but nothing for a bow like this one.
