    Default The first Apitius Era

I just grabbed a 2008 Apitius Grand Classic off the classifieds. I understand Oliver got his start a long while back, and took a break from building before returning in 2015.

The story seems to be he came back better than ever, and I’m curious about the reputation of these pre-2015 mandos if anyone knows much about it!

Apparently on my incoming there’s some violin reserve old German maple he got his hands on, that’s interesting.

A friend of mine has an Apitius that he bought many years ago, perhaps in the late 1990's or early 2000's.
I have not seen the instrument in many years, but I remember that it was a good instrument.

Ah so you're the one who got it. When I saw the ad I knew it'd go quick. Congrats.

I've only ever played one Apitius and that was about 10 years ago. I remember it was an amazing mandolin, one of the strongest I had ever played. I think you did very well with that score.

That was me! It lasted about two hours on the classifieds. I looked back and realized I emailed him about three minutes after it was listed - kinda wild the attention some of these builders draw now. I’ll join the Apitius club, sure.

Congratulations! Looked like a nice mandolin.

I am surprised that this Apitius A is still in the classifieds...
