I know that in excellent condition this would be an upper end SOL but I have a feeling that it will end up costing as much to restore it as it would be to buy a one in better condition. Maybe a luthier bought it?

I doubt it. I think it was probably someone that thought it was a steal and they could resurrect it themselves without putting a ton of money in it. I might have gone 1/2 of that for the tailpiece cover and pickguard but I have been know to be cheap.

It sold for more than one that didn't need work in the classifieds earlier this week. (And also on Reverb) But that one was under-priced, IMO.

Hopefully whoever got this one can fix it.
