This was a very enjoyable thread and why I think this is the best instrument forum. I especially appreciated Allen’s contributions and wisdom. Playing mandolin is a blessing and I hope the OP and all of us have another great year of music ahead.

    Aw, shucks...(blushes)...

Well, wisdom is what you get when you lose teeth, night vision, no-pee full-nights' sleep, confident balance, and -- geez, there was something else -- can't put my finger on it -- oh yeah, short-term memory!

Tomorrow I turn 78; hope my "wisdom" will get me through another few years!

Wisdom is the love child of intelligence and experience.

    Re: the original post:

As someone with a long marriage and a long instrument purchase list, I have no regrets about keeping a Breedlove that my wife brought to my attention in a music store 15 years ago, even though I upgraded five years later.

Welcome Quickbeam! As you can tell from my post count I am a newbie here. At least your wife got your F style lust out of the way. I started with the Loar 310 and did not like it. I got an Eastman 305. Sounded great, but sold it for an Eastman 515 to tame the F style lust. Big improvement and I don't think I need another F for what I do. But! Now I have A lust and considering a 505!
The sad thing is that I really have not improved in my playing since I got the 305. So play on and let the need for a new mandolin outweigh the want, unlike me.
